Sources of Information

Ideally all information should be used in the study, but in many instances this is not possible and it is important to identify the key parameters for a particular reservoir. This may be due to time / resource constraints or difficulty of obtaining the original data, or it may not have been processed yet. Some of the information types are nearly always used (e.g. seismic structure), while in other types are only used in particular instances, (e.g. seismic body extraction). It is common that during a modelling study, elements come to light that suggest re-interpretation of earlier reports or analysis may be needed, so decisions may need to be made to progress the project to the satisfaction of all parties.

  • Seismic faulting
  • Seismic attributes
  • Seismic lineaments
  • Well logs
  • Well tops
  • Production Logging (e.g. PLT)
  • Formation Layer Pressures (e.g. RFT)
  • Dipmeter
  • Image Logs – facies, sub-seismic faulting, fractures
  • Core Logs
  • Core data
